Natural Stone Countertops

Why Granite?

For those who want more for their kitchens than just a place to prepare meals. Natural stone countertops are more than functional; natural stone gives one the opportunity to express personal style and taste. It will convert your functional kitchen into a distinctive gathering place.

What is Granite?

Granite is a very hard crystalline igneous rock that forms deep underground through volcanic materials. Mineral gases and liquids penetrate into the stone and created new crystalline formations with various colors. It is formed by the solidification (cooling) or in some cases by solid-state transformation of molten or semi-molten material in the earth’s upper mantle or crust into crystalline rock that makes up much of the earths crust.

Granite is actually less absorbent than some solid surface (plastic) products and is resistant to stains. Almost any liquid spilled on a granite top, if wiped up within a few minutes will not stain. Water can soak into a granite counter top and leave a dark color spot but will evaporate in minutes. Liquids that do not evaporate, such as oils will cause stains if left to soak into the stone. We recommend sealing all natural stone and we will seal your countertops at installation.

Slabworks of Montana takes great pride in providing our customers the perfect stone for each project. All of our slabs are hand selected for their unique style and character. It is that uniqueness that affords our customers a one-of-a-kind installation.

The Beauty of Versatility

When designing your home, consider granite, marble, quartz, limestone and travertine as options for more than just countertops. Window sills, shower surrounds, custom tables, fireplace mantels and stair treads are just some of the many simple touches that can make a house a home. The natural durability of stone accents you install today will last a lifetime.

Granite is a natural stone, and therefore, will have veins, pits, pores and fissures on its surface. These surface marks are in no way a defect, and in some cases can be said to enhance the beauty of the product.

What is Dekton?

Dekton is a sophisticated mixture of the raw materials used in the production of glass, latest-generation porcelain tiles and quartz surfaces. It is a new and innovative material that is paving the way for the future of surfaces for architecture and design.

Exclusive Particle Sintering Technology (PST) is used to create Dekton. This is a technological process that is an accelerated version of the metamorphic changes that natural stone undergoes through exposure to high pressure and high temperatures over thousands of years. Dekton's excellent mechanical properties offer infinite design and manufacturing possibilities (it can be manufactured in large formats 123" x 55"), making it perfect for both indoor and outdoor use. Dekton is an ideal material for kitchens, bathrooms, façades, wall cladding, and high traffic floor areas.

Why Slabworks?

Slabworks of Montana is the Gallatin Valley's largest and most respected slab stone fabricator. We have over 600 slabs of stone in stock in our indoor and outdoor viewing areas, allowing you to select the slabs that will be used on your project.

Natural stone has unique character and color variation, this is why it's important to see and select the exact slabs that will be used.  All of our stones are brought in bundles of 5 to 8 slabs of matched stone.  This helps to ensure color accuracy and giving faster fabrication because we're not waiting on any materials.
