Countertop Color Style Guide

Aug 11, 2020 |

We offer countless materials, colors, and styles of stone for countertops. It can be overwhelming to figure out what works well for you. The best way to find that perfect slab is to visit a showroom and see for yourself, but even then you’ll need a jumping-off point. If you’re not sure where to start check out these five popular color styles and see which fits you the best.

1. Flecked or softly veined white

White countertops have reigned supreme for years. A subtle pattern gives the slabs a natural richness that uplifts a space. It works great in traditional or transitional spaces where a solid white may be too severe. It freshens the space without making it cold. The flecks or veins also hide crumbs or dust if you have a high-traffic kitchen.

2. Pure White

A completely solid white is perfect for more contemporary spaces. This crisp color can open up small spaces, especially when paired with minimalist cabinetry. It’s also a great way to break up a space that’s full of bold finishes like grainy wood or bright colors.

3. Dark Countertops

While white countertops are extremely popular, there has been a shift toward the dark side in recent year. When paired with other dark elements like cabinets or floors, dark countertops can create a cozy, rich atmosphere. Alternatively, you can use black or other dark countertop colors to make the other colors in your kitchen pop.

4. Mid-tone or Gray Countertops

If white or black is too stark for you, then meet in the middle with a grey, beige, or cream. If you want something soft and dreamy go for warm undertones. For something more calm and refreshing choose cool undertones. These also go well with bright colored cabinets but will soften the look more than dark countertops would.

5. Dramatic Patterns

One of our favorite things about working with stone is the huge variety of colors and patterns you can find. Boldly veined stones with swirling lines and defined colors can be an amazing focal point for your space. This color style is best for homeowners with a large enough space who love visual drama. Pair it with dark cabinetry to really make the patterns pop.

Which color style feels right to you? When you’re ready, give us a call or visit our showroom to discover your perfect slab.
