Every year we get excited about the newest color trends. The 2022 Colors of the year all have something in common, they’re some shade of green! Green has been taking the interior design world by storm, and for good reason. Green has the ability to create soothing and serene environments, which is something we all need these days. There’s also a timeless quality to these green hues, which means they won’t go out of style any time soon. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite honorees and which countertop designs we think would work best with them.
Our Favorite 2022 Colors of the Year
Evergreen Fog by Sherwin-Williams
This mid-tone gray-green is a fantastic choice for walls or cabinetry. It’s shifting away from the brilliant jewel tones that have dominated the last few years, which makes it more versatile and timeless. Evergreen fog establishes a comforting calm feeling in whatever space it’s used in.
Evergreen Fog is a sophisticated wash of color for spaces that crave a subtle yet stunning statement shade. It inspires us to begin again and is a great choice for modern interiors and exteriors.

Guacamole by Glidden
This avocado-green delivers a relaxing and refreshing vibe to any room. It invokes that springtime rush we feel when we can start opening our windows and breathing fresh air again. We love how it’s both exciting and calming at the same time.
We’ve all saved beautiful green kitchens and earthy-inspired bedrooms on our Pinterest boards and TikToks over the past year and a half, driven by our need for calm, regrowth, and rejuvenation after living through these ‘unprecedented times

Olive Sprig by PPG
This soft, organic shade of green is reminiscent of velvety sage leaves. It was chosen by PPG to represent regrowth and resiliency. It’s a lush mid-tone that feels familiar and grounding, yet versatile enough to liven up a space more than traditional neutrals. PPG felt this was the perfect color to represent the new ways of living in our post-pandemic world.
DIYers, property managers, designers, and architects are shifting away from the stark, neutral palettes of yesterday and opting for color in all forms. Call it rebellion, but we are certainly here for the resurgence of optimistic colors to guide us into a new era of home design.

Countertop Recommendations
The 2022 Colors of The Year beg to be paired with natural stone countertops. It really completes the “back to nature” vibe that these colors invoke. White countertops are the most popular pairing choice there are great options in the grey or black color palettes as well. See our top recommendations below.
White Marble
Clean white marble pairs wonderfully with mid-tone greens. It’s perfect for biophilic designs that focus on harmony with nature. If you’re not sure about the durability of natural stone marble, you can always opt for engineered quartz such as Silestone’s Calcutta gold
White/Grey/Beige Granite
Granite is a more durable natural stone option. We recommend looking for a white-grey patterned slab. If you’re looking for a softer, warmer feel look for light beige speckles or feigning.
Black/Dark Grey
If you want to bring some drama to your space, go with a dark charcoal or black countertop. We love Silestone Noir for this, but any dark pattern will do. If you love dark academia as an interior design style, this would be a perfect option.
