COVID-19 Trends

Oct 14, 2020 |
COVID-19 Trends

The COVID-19 Pandemic has affected so many facets of our lives. The design industry is no exception. Interior Design has always reflected the needs of society. This shift has led to more people spending time at their homes. We’re all keenly away of the parts of our homes that could be improved. Remodeling projects that had been put off suddenly became essential. COVID-19 trends are making some significant changes to the priorities of homeowners everywhere

We’ve seen a huge uptick in outdoor kitchen projects. They’re are seen as less of a secondary kitchen and more as a primary entertainment space. Clients want a safe outdoor space that they can visit with family and friends while enjoying many of the same comforts they would indoors. Outdoor stone countertops are durable, easy to clean and look great. A stone patio creates the perfect dining or lounging space. And you can’t forget a stone fire pit to keep everyone warm even as the nights get colder.

This move to the outdoors isn’t the only COVID-19 trend we’ve seen. As people are finally tackling long-awaited bathroom or kitchen remodels health and safety are at the forefront of everyone’s mind. Soft surfaces are harder to disinfect, so we’re seeing even more stone incorporated into these designs. Stone slabs are a beautiful way to keep your kitchen healthy without having to worry about bacteria accumulating in nooks and crannies.

We’re also seeing people invest in their home offices. As more families are working or schooling from home they are finding their current spaces inadequate. A second-hand desk shoved into the corner of a spare room isn’t enough. They’re looking for spaces that inspire productivity and focus. Something that feels as professional as the spaces they’ve had to leave behind. Incorporating stone into desks or feature walls is a great way to do this.

Have you started looking at your home or office differently since COVID-19? Give us a call to discuss how we can make your environment the sanctuary it should be.
